Wellington Divers scoop the pool at Nationals

Wellington Divers scooped the pool at the Diving New Zealand National Championships over Labour weekend in Auckland.

Gabrielle Armstrong Scott was named Diver of the Year. Gabe broke 3 New Zealand records and captured 5 New Zealand titles. Her brother Ollie had a very successful meet winning male age group diver of the year, breaking a New Zealand record and taking 4 titles.

Another success story was a Wellington trifecta with Alice Wylie van Eerd winning the women's premier 3 metre event with 262.60 points, Gabrielle only .30 of a point behind and Kate Irving not far back on 249.95. The competition was very close and a real battle right up to the last round.

Gabrielle and Alice competed in the women's open 3 metre synchro event as a team for the first the time, performing a very impressive display. They will compete in the synchro event along with individual events at Grand Prixs and FINA World Cup in 2010.

Tom Green performed well in his favourite event, winning the 16-18 boys platform title and finishing second behind WHPA team mate Ollie in the 1 metre.

Wellington's younger divers competing at their first National competition performed exceedingly well, taking many minor medal positions.
